How to Build an Extraordinary Business (with No Money)
Whether you are just starting a new business venture or looking to propel your brand further than what you ever thought possible, Loral Langemeier credits cash as the secret to an extraordinary business.
But, how can you get your hands on those greenbacks if you don’t have any?
“The fastest thing to do if you’re starting a company is to pre-sell your idea because you’re going to have cash,” The Millionaire Maker said. “The reason I became a five-time New York Times best seller is I pre-sold thousands and thousands and thousands of books before the book was even written.”
While the traditionalist’s road to business requires a plan and a structure, it also risks business owners and entrepreneurs spending boatloads of money up front only to have the product or service fail down the road.
From Apple iPhones to coaching programs, Langemeier said virtually anything can be pre-sold, and benefits the entrepreneur in three ways:
1. Pre-selling requires very little in start-up costs.
2. Your customers tell you exactly what they want to buy from you.
3. A successful launch means instantaneous cash flow before you have even delivered a single unit or service to your customer.
Infomercial inventor and Shark Tank star Kevin Harrington and Langemeier followed the same model to pre-sell over $40,000 worth of training to entrepreneurs.
“Then we emailed the people who bought the program and we said, ‘So, you all bought. We’re starting on this day. What do you want? What are your key things you want us to teach you about?’” she said. “They told us exactly what they wanted. We delivered it. We nailed it.”
The key, however, is to act fast and act now, Langemeier said, and not spend three or four months getting ready to open shop.
“The faster they can pre-sell to get evidence and not only evidence, people are willing to pre-buy an item you haven’t delivered, you launch rich,” she said. “You got the cash in your pocket. You have the money to spend to hire the team to get it done property or outsource to somebody if you decide you don’t want to do it, but you’re always in cash.”
