Direct mail is a VERY effective tool for investors.
Granted, I am the founder of a postcard marketing company — so of course I’m going to say that.
But that doesn’t make it any less TRUE!

Here’s the first:
This Michigan investor bought a mailing list of 1,000 records of:
- Absentee homeowners
- Single-family dwelling units
- People who own a home in his area but have their property taxes mailed to an out-of-state address
Once he purchased the mailing list, he sent the postcard three times to everyone on his list. When prospects see your postcard multiple times (and they have a piece of marketing collateral they can hold on to), they understand that you are a stable, credible investor, and they are more likely to sell to you!
Let’s look at the numbers:
Postcards mailed: 3,000
Campaign cost: $1,382
Campaign results: 62 responses. He has already bought, remodeled and sold one house, is currently working on a second house and has a third in the pipeline.
Campaign revenue (so far!): $162,000
Return on investment: 11,622%
Pretty great, right? Thanks to this campaign, the deals are coming to my client. That’s one of the hardest parts of being an investor — finding a great deal!
Here’s another campaign, from a North Carolina investor who takes a slightly different approach:
This guy bought a list of probates, foreclosures and inheritance addresses, and mailed to them once. ONCE!
Here’s how it turned out:
Postcards mailed: 7,244
Campaign cost: $2,752
Campaign results: 502 calls, which resulted in 13 sales.
Campaign revenue: $96,000
Return on investment: 3,421%
He was so happy with his campaign that postcards are now the only marketing he does. He continues to mail every month, generating $60,000-$100,000 in monthly revenue!
Well, there are many factors at play.
Your postcard design, your mailing schedule, your message and more can all affect your response, but here’s what it comes down to:
