Yakima Needs More Space for Apartments

(YAKIMA, WA)— While Washington has seen fluctuating rents over the last three decades, the city of Yakima is running into an interesting situation in which there isn’t a whole lot of space to keep with the demand for new apartments.

City officials say the trends will likely require more property to be rezoned as developers look to develop multifamily housing, reports the Yakima Herald.

At the beginning of 2015, some 1,050 acres were rezoned for multifamily development. Only about 20 acres of this space is left in 2016, says Yakima community development director Joan Davenport.
